Fortis manufactures modular FRP panel tanks from high-grade, compression-moulded SMC panels. Three panel formats—1000 × 1000, 1000 × 500 and 500 × 500 mm—support project-specific footprints and capacities, with available panel thicknesses from 4 to 16 mm.
Modular FRP panel water tank systems may also be specified as a GRP panel water tank, GRP sectional water tank or SMC panel water tank, the system is delivered in compact sections and bolted together on site. Individual panels can be moved through standard access openings, making this construction suitable for rooftops, basements, plant rooms and locations where a one-piece tank is difficult to deliver. They can be configured for potable-water projects, fire reserves, HVAC make-up water, rainwater collection and general process-water storage.
Fortis has more than 20 years of FRP Products manufacturing experience and operates 33 FRP production lines, including nine compression-moulding lines. Project support covers specification review, customized dimensions, fitting configuration, production inspection, pre-shipment verification and export packaging.
An FRP panel tank should not be selected by nominal capacity alone. The available room dimensions, tank height, operating water level, access route and connection positions all influence the final arrangement.
| Specification | Fortis Configuration |
|---|---|
| Panel material | Sheet Moulding Compound (SMC) |
| Panel profile | Pressed ball-profile panel |
| Panel sizes | 1000 × 1000, 1000 × 500 and 500 × 500 mm |
| Panel thickness | 4–16 mm |
| Tank volume | Customised by project |
| Construction | Sectional delivery and on-site assembly |
Full-, half- and quarter-size panels allow the footprint to follow 500 mm and 1000 mm dimensional increments. The final thickness schedule is determined according to tank height, hydrostatic load and panel position rather than applying one thickness to the entire tank.
Depending on the project specification, the complete system can include compression-moulded SMC panels, a base frame, internal and external reinforcement, sealing gaskets, bolts and nuts, a manhole, vent, ladders, level indicator and inlet, outlet, overflow and drain connections.
Materials in contact with the stored water should be confirmed according to the water duty and required local standard before production. Panel thickness is selected according to tank height and panel position rather than applying one thickness to the entire tank.
The modular structure reduces tank-shell corrosion and supports component-level inspection and maintenance. Foundation tolerances, joint preparation, bolt tightening and a final hydrostatic test must be controlled during installation to achieve reliable sealing.
For sectional water tanks, FRP and GRP both describe glass-fibre-reinforced composite construction. SMC refers more specifically to the sheet moulding compound and compression-moulding process used to form the panels. Buyers should compare the resin system, reinforcement, panel design, wetted components and test documentation—not select a tank by acronym alone.
