An AC Contactor is an electrically controlled switching device designed for frequent make-and-break operations of power circuits, typically controlling motors, lighting, heaters, or capacitor banks. Unlike a circuit breaker which provides overcurrent protection, this magnetic contactor is optimized for high-frequency duty cycles (up to 1,200 operations per hour) under normal load conditions. Our contactors feature a laminated silicon steel core, silver alloy contacts, and a low-consumption AC/DC coil (coil power from 70 VA inrush to 9 VA holding). Available in 3-pole or 4-pole configurations with window-type or screw terminals, they comply with IEC 60947-4-1 standards. Supplementary auxiliary contact blocks (1NO/1NC to 8 auxiliary combinations) snap onto the main unit for status feedback to PLC systems. Application Scenarios

 Three-Phase Induction Motor Control 

In industrial conveyor belts, pumps, fans, or compressors, the AC magnetic contactor is the most critical component of a motor starter assembly paired with an overload relay. When a PLC or pushbutton sends a start signal, the contactor's coil energizes, pulling in the main contacts to connect the 3-phase supply (e.g., 415V 50Hz) to the motor terminals. During the motor starting phase (AC-3 duty), the contactor must withstand inrush currents of 6 to 8 times the full load current (FLC) without welding its contacts. Our 9A to 800A DIN rail or panel mount contactors handle these high inrush surges reliably, with electrical lifetimes exceeding one million operations. They safely interrupt locked rotor currents during emergency stops or overload trips, providing years of maintenance-free service in demanding factory environments.

 Lighting & Resistive Load Control 

Large commercial buildings, stadiums, and parking garages often switch high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps, LED arrays, or electric heaters through modular contactors. Unlike motor loads, lighting circuits require AC-1 rated contactors where the inrush to steady-state ratio is lower (approximately 1.5× steady current). For banks of LED drivers with high capacitive inrush, our 4-pole contactors (up to 100A breaking capacity) allow switching neutral lines separately, preventing neutral arcing that could damage dimming systems. Wall-mounted or DIN rail housing with manual override levers enables maintenance technicians to force-close contacts even when coil power is off, a critical feature for emergency lighting tests. Some installations use bistable (latching) contactors to reduce control circuit standby power consumption across hundreds of lighting zones.

Capacitor Bank Power Factor Correction 

For power factor correction panels at commercial or industrial sites, a specialized AC contactor with early-make auxiliary contacts switches capacitor banks. All models include discharge resistors to drain stored capacitor voltage to 50V within one minute, protecting personnel during panel maintenance.
